History
The monastery was founded by monks from Poitiers in 7th century. Under Charlemagne it became an abbey.
In 830 the relics of St Junian were brought to the crypt of a newly built church.
After demolitions by Normans the church again was rebuilt in 11th century. Further extensions and fortification followed in 12th century. The tower and porch were added in late 12th century.
